Gallery Players Season 55

Health and Safety at Gallery Players

Live theater returns to Brooklyn, with Gallery Players’ 55th season! We welcome audiences back to our theater for six mainstage productions, in addition to offering two online streaming events.

After receiving a prophecy from three witches that he will one day become King of Scotland, Macbeth is consumed by ambition and encouraged by his wife to do whatever it takes to become the new king. Wracked with guilt and paranoia, the bloodbath and consequent civil war swiftly take Macbeth and Lady Macbeth into the realms of madness. This production will be streamed online.
And Away We Go

Times change, but life in the theater remains the same: chaotic, sometimes brutal, but often euphoric, too. Follow a company of actors through the ages – from the ancient Greeks, to Shakespeare at the Globe, Molière at Versailles’ Royal Theatre, the first reading of a new play by Chekhov in Moscow, and then on to present-day America. This production will be in person at the theater.
Ain't Misbehavin'

One of the most popular musical revues of all time and winner of the 1978 Tony Award for Best Musical. A sassy, sultry celebration of legendary jazz great, Fats Waller, featuring five dynamic performers in an evening of exuberant, melodic, and humorous songs that encapsulate the moods of this vibrant era. This production will be in person at the theater.
Fugitive Colors

Every second Sunday of the month, four women of very different ages and backgrounds meet at Marge’s mountain cabin. But today will be different, very different. Receiving its world premiere, Fugitive Colors is a humorous, thought-provoking play about love, friendship and life’s most difficult choices. This production will be in person at the theater.
Black Box New Play Festival

Gallery has a history of supporting emerging playwrights, fostering play development, and producing world premieres. Our playwright-focused festival aims to adapt and polish a collection of short new plays and to create an exciting presentation of theater online. This production will be streamed online.

With profound compassion and lyricism, this powerful play delves into the urgent issue of the “school-to-prison” pipeline that ensnares people of color. Issues of class, race, parenting, and education in America are brought to the frontlines, as we are left to question the systemic structures that ultimately trap underserved communities. This production will be in person at the theater.

From the award-winning creators of Next to Normal, this contemporary musical is about living in New York today and all of the possibilities of tomorrow. Set at the intersection of choice and chance, one woman’s life is split into two parallel paths. If we knew how things could turn out, would we still make the same decisions? This production will be in person at the theater.
The House of Bernarda Alba

Written in 1936, just before the start of the Spanish Civil War, domineering matriarch Bernarda Alba prepares her house for eight years of mourning following the death of her second husband. The upcoming isolation raises tensions between her daughters, who secretly harbor a passion for the handsomest man in the village. This production will be in person at the theater.
