And Away We Go Auditions

Gallery Players is holding auditions for its upcoming production of And Away We Go by Terrence McNally. Director: Mark Gallagher, Producer: Dominic Cuskern. NON-UNION ONLY. NO PAY.

The show performs October 9th – 24th. Performances are Thursday through Saturday evenings with additional matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Rehearsals start September 7th and will be held evenings and weekends. The first week of rehearsals will be via Zoom and afterwards at the theater (199 14th St, Park Slope, Brooklyn).

Audition Information:

Actors should prepare a one-minute monologue, preferably comic although a serio-comedic one would be fine.

There are two ways to audition: actors can send in a self-tape of a monologue OR request a live audition via Zoom. Actors may not do both.

  1. To request a live Zoom audition appointment please email your headshot and resume to the producer: Zoom auditions will be held on Saturday, August 14th from 2-5PM. Those selected for audition will be sent a link. If you cannot audition during that time, please send in a tape.
  2. Actors sending in a taped monologue should send it to the producer: The deadline for receipt of audition tapes is midnight on Sunday, August 15th. Any tapes received after that deadline will not be reviewed.

Callbacks will be held live at the theater on Sunday, August 22nd from 2-6PM and on Monday, August 23rd from 6-9PM.

COVID Safety: All participants will need to show proof of vaccination. Masks will be worn, and social distancing will be observed at all times, except when necessary on stage.

The play follows a company of actors through the ages from the Greeks, through Shakespeare, Molière, Russia and then on to the States. Each actor will play six characters and will therefore need to be extremely VERSATILE and have an excellent facility with accents (Greek, French, English, Russian).

We are looking for as diverse a cast as possible so all ethnicities, races and orientations are strongly encouraged to audition. The roles also go from ingénue, to character actors, to older actors (ideally over 60).
