Legally Blonde Auditions

Gallery Players is holding auditions for its upcoming non-Equity production of the musical Legally Blonde. Music and Lyrics by Laurence O’Keefe and Nell Benjamin. Book by Heather Hach. Director and Choreographer, Ryan Hendricks. Music Director, Joseph K. Ivan. Producer, Dominic Cuskern.

Callbacks will be held Sunday, June 29 and Monday, June 30. There will be a dance call at callbacks.

All rehearsals and performances take place onsite at: Gallery Players, 199 14th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11215

  • Rehearsals: begin Friday, August 1, typically Tuesday-Friday 7-10pm, Saturday-Sunday 12-6pm, Monday off
  • Tech: Saturday, September 6 and Sunday, September 7, 12-10pm, Monday off
  • Dress Rehearsals: Tuesday, September 9 – Friday, September 12, 6:30-11pm
  • Performances: Saturday, September 13 – Sunday, September 28 (Thursday-Saturday 7:30pm, Saturday 2pm, Sunday 3pm)

There is a one time stipend of $100.

This show has a wide range of characters, and the ensemble is highly featured and very busy. Understudies for some roles may be cast from the ensemble (no scheduled understudy performances). Performers of all races and ethnicities, gender expressions, cultural heritages/backgrounds, body types as well as disabled and differently-abled performers are encouraged to submit. We are seeking an inclusive, diverse cast.


Character Breakdown:

ELLE WOODS (Gb3-C5 Soprano Belt)
Elle is a sorority girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School and realizes that she has more than just a pretty face and a bubbly personality to offer the world! She is lovable, determined, vulnerable, energetic and outgoing! A true triple threat, tap dance skills are a plus. Must be comfortable with dogs and kissing on stage. Must be willing to dye your hair blonde for this role, but please do NOT dye your hair blonde before casting.

EMMETT FORREST (B2-A4 Tenor)
Emmett is a smart, quirky, sensitive and personable law student. He ends up taking Elle under his wing and believes in her when it seems that no one else does. Must be comfortable with dogs. A strong singer/actor with great comedic timing!

PAULETTE BUONOFUONTE (A3-A5 Soprano Belt)
Paulette is the funny owner of Hair Affair, a local salon. She becomes friends with Elle and longs to marry a man from Ireland. She and Elle help each other achieve their dreams! Must be comfortable with dogs.
Ability to do a Boston accent is a plus, a strong singer with a powerful belt to match the personality!

PILAR, MARGOT & SERENA (C#3-F5 Belt)
Pilar is the sassy and sensible sorority sister. Margot is the seemingly dim-witted, boy-crazy sorority sister. Serena is the energetic cheerleader sorority sister. Margot, Serena, & Pilar are Elle’s entourage who follow her through the story acting as her “Greek Chorus”. Strong singers and dancers with good comic timing and youthful energy!

PROFESSOR CALLAHAN (A2-F#4 Baritone)
Callahan is a pompous and manipulative law professor at Harvard. Callahan should be charismatic but able to turn instantly into a conniving shark at the turn of a hat.

WARNER HUNTINGTON III (Eb3-Ab4 Tenor)
Warner is attractive and charming but very self-absorbed. He will do whatever it takes to achieve his dream of becoming a senator, including breaking Elle’s heart. Actor must be very comfortable on stage to best display the character’s charisma!

VIVIENNE KENSINGTON (A3-Ab5 Big Soprano Belt)
Vivienne is an overachieving, stuck-up, wealthy, smart and savvy law student who is intellectually driven. She initially feels very threatened by Elle’s presence at Harvard.

BROOKE WYNDHAM (A3-G5 Alto or Soprano)
Brooke is an exercise video star and former Delta Nu sorority girl who was accused of murder. This role must have the physical stamina to sing solo lines while doing high level dancing and jumping rope. This track will double as a Delta Nu for Act One.

KYLE B. O’BOYLE – No solo singing required, but may double as ensemble/other cameo parts
Kyle is a handsome, smooth-talking UPS deliveryman. We soon find out that he is Paulette’s dream guy.

ENID HOOPS (G3-05 Soprano Belt)
Enid is a strong, opinionated, feminist law student at Harvard. Great comedic timing!

– Leilani, Gaelan – (B3 – Eb5 Alto) – Delta Nu sorority sisters with solos. Must be strong dancers – will be featured in the Greek Chorus later.
– Grand Master Chad – UCLA frat boy. Must be able to rap.

– Sundeep Padamadan – A foreign Harvard law student. Former leader of his country.
– Aaron Schultz – A smug and arrogant Harvard law student.
– Whitney – Vivienne’s best friend at Harvard Law.
– Winthrop, Pforzheimer, Lowell – Harvard Law admissions officers.

– Store Manager – A department store manager who helps Elle and is serious about break time
– Saleswoman (Courtney) – Underestimates Elle’s intelligence

– Nikos Argitakos – Brooke Wyndham’s pool boy, playing “straight” for the DA
– Carlos – Nikos’ “best friend” who outs him in court
– Chutney Wyndham – Brooke Wyndham’s jealous step-daughter
