Gallery Players is currently casting for our upcoming production of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Lyrics by Tim Rice.
Director Noel MacDuffie. Music Director Ethan Smith-Cohen. Choreographer Cara Leggio.

If you are selected, you will be scheduled for an in person audition.

Deadline Monday February 16 at midnight.


Scheduled Auditions will take place Saturday Feb 21 @ 12-4 pm, Sunday Feb 22 @ 12-4 pm, and Wednesday Feb 25 @ 7:30-10 pm.

Call Backs will be Saturday Feb 28 @ 1-5 pm and Sunday March 1 @ 12-4 pm.

Auditions, rehearsals and performances will take place at Gallery Players 199 14th Street in South Slope, Brooklyn.

First rehearsal: Saturday, March 21. Rehearsals will be on weekday nights and weekend days.

Performance Dates: May 1-17.

This production is non-union and has a one time stipend of $100.

JESUS. Male 20s–30s Voice: High rock tenor. Range: approx. A2–C5 (sustained high tessitura, Rock Scream G5)

Approaching the biggest challenge of a very challenging few years, Jesus must maintain his focus to achieve his goal. He must also keep his group together, despite their preoccupations.

JUDAS ISCARIOT. Male 20s–40s Voice: rock tenor. Range: approx. C3–E5

A man watching the movement he has helped shape, start to lose its way. And his best friend and collaborator seems keen to push things even further off the tracks. What to do.

MARY MAGDALENE. Female 20s–40s Voice: Mezzo-soprano / Soprano. Range: approx. G#3–D5

Worried at the strain the movement is putting on Jesus whilst also struggling with her feeling for him. A passionate and persuasive woman.

PONTIUS PILATE. Aged 30s–50s. Baritone. Range: approx. A2–Bb4

Pilate, troubled by his dreams, tries to avoid sending Jesus to his death, but ultimately bows to the political realities.

KING HEROD. Tenor or Baritone (character role) Range: approx. C3–G4. A murderous king doing a comic number.

Big presence with an underlying steel. Actor will also be used in the ensemble.

CAIAPHAS. Aged 30s–60s. Bass. Range: approx. C#2–F4.

Powerful person determined to save his people from the threat posed by Jesus.

ANNAS. Aged 30s–60s Tenor. Range: approx. C#3–A4

Rights hand person to Caiaphas. Ready to plot and plan to ensure success and curry favor.

SIMON ZELOTS. Aged 20s. Tenor. Range: approx. C3–Bb4

High energy song encouraging Jesus to entertain rebellious energy as well as spiritual awakening.

PETER. Aged 20s–40s Voice: Baritone / Tenor. Range: approx. C3–G4

Repeatedly denies his role as a disciple and then laments his lost mentor.

ENSEMBLE. All ranges. Soprano G3-D6, Alto G3-F5, Tenor C3-C5, Bass Gb2-A4

Notes: Functions as crowd, apostles, priests, lepers, mob. Heavy choral singing and intense physical staging. Strong movers preferred.

DANCERS: Dancers will audition on Saturday Feb 21 at 3 pm. Dancers will sing at the call back.
