Gallery Players has often successfully produced new musicals as part of their season, such as Yank (2007) and Like You Like It (2008). To further this idea, Gallery Players has created a new program in order to directly support the development of new musicals. OVERTURES will offer staged readings of new musicals, thereby fostering the creation of new musical theatre and supporting the talented composers and writers as they refine their work. The series is helmed by theatre director and scholar, Barrie Gelles and will feature the talents of a roster of exceptional up-and-coming performers and directors.
Overtures returns for its eighth year, bringing workshop readings of new musicals to Gallery’s stage. Come see the work of talented composers and writers as they refine their new musicals. At Overtures you can hear it here first!

A family, a ghost, and a question that won’t let go. Players’ Shakespeare returns to the stage this summer for an unforgettable production of William Shakespeare’s HAMLET.
The ghost of Denmark’s king tells his son, Prince Hamlet, that he was murdered by Hamlet’s uncle, Claudius. Claudius has since seized the throne and married the widowed queen. Searching for the truth, Hamlet feigns madness, causing distress throughout the court. His actions trigger a tragic chain of events, causing many deaths of both the guilty and the innocent!

Dominic Cuskern, President of Gallery Players and the Producing Director of Players’ Shakespeare, has played Shylock, Malvolio, Prospero among many other Shakespearean roles. He has appeared on Broadway and taught Shakespeare at the Pearl Theatre Conservatory: both technique and scene study.
